GHALIA'S  TRAVELS

Velaa Private Island

VELAA PRIVATE ISLAND

MAY 2015

Pristine Velaa is like a postcard island. Perfect beach, immaculate villas and the Maldivian island you dream of visiting. The view upon landing was spectacular and the seaplane pilot did a circle of the island so I could get some good shots.

SUNRISE WATER POOL VILLA

This immaculate island does not disappoint. The beautiful Sunrise Water Pool Villas are beautifully designed. This spacious villa has uninterrupted views of the beautiful turquoise lagoon and a wonderfully large outdoor deck.

With sun almost all day long the deck is the perfect all-day retreat. Two sun loungers, a shaded dining table and a curtained outdoor day bed this deck has ample lounging space. Not to mention a wonderful house reef right at your feet.

The resort has a total of 45 villas and residences. With four over water and four beach front categories you have a range of villa choices.

Before You Go

My top tip always is book in advance so you're not disappointed.

Book your spa, dinners, dives and communicate with the resort.

As the jetty is not as long as many other Maldivian resorts request a villa further up the jetty for more privacy.

Both sunrise and sunset water villas are spectacular.

Before booking your dinners check if any of the resort restaurants offer themed night dinners. This adds variety to the menu if you are staying there a little longer.

Aragu, the resort's signature restaurant is not to be missed. Bear in my that there is dress code. At the time I was there it was smart (no jeans or flip flops for men and women).

It would be a good idea to pack something 'smart' for this dinner.

Don't miss the daily 'stingray feeding' right by the arrival pavillion and 'Ari Pool Bar'! The view at sunset is spectacular.

Another great spot to watch the sunset is on the rooftop of Ari Pool Bar. Its one of my favourite spots on the island.
