Diving in the Maldives

DHAALU ATOLL:

Hulhudheli Kandu Dive Site - Maldives: I'm always excited to explore a new atoll and my stay at the St Regis Maldives meant it was my first trip to Dhaalu.

As this atoll has fewer resorts many of its reefs have not been explored yet which made it even more exciting to go diving here. Marine life here is abundant and diverse and coral formations are quite healthy.

Upon booking my single tank dive I was told we would be visiting the nearlby Hulhudheli Kandu site. Visibility at this time of year is not the best but I was lucky to go diving on a good visibility day.

I was told there was a chance we would see mantas and I was super excited. I really did want to tick that one off my bucket list.

We jumped into the blue and entered a channel upon descending.

Our dive lasted 37 minutes during which we saw huge schools of Trevally, fusillier, and triggerfish. I was excited to see a black tip reef shark, nurse shark, sting ray and the most importantly a very graceful manta.
