When I first got out of the minibus upon arrival at Jávri lodge, there was a light snow flurry and everything around me was white. A beautiful thick blanket of snow covered the pine covered landscape and Jávri Lodge stood out like a flame in the cold. The copper metal and warm wood instantly ignited a warmth within me as I walked towards the lodge. The stunning architecture is a blend of metal and wood with large glass panels and a copper chimney. A modern yet authentic Lappish retreat where the warmth of the lodge and its lovely staff make you feel right at home.

Jávri Lodge was once the retreat of Finnish President Urho Kekkonen. It is surrounded by untouched landscape and lies at the edge of a national park aptly named after the president.

We entered the lodge and were greeted by the warm team.  The beautiful copper door opens up automatically as you come towards it and you pass through a corridor designed to hold coats and shoes before entering the main foyer of the lodge. The interior is wide and spacious, with beautiful high ceilings and sleek interiors softened by plush rugs and log stools covered with reindeer seat warmers. The modern luxury interiors are bright and airy with large glass windows that look out onto the magical snowy landscape outside.

A spiral staircase leads upstairs to the sky-view rooms and the ground floor houses the 6 cosy double rooms and 3 presidential suites split over two ends.
