GHALIA'S TRAVELS
Spa, Library & More
North Island's central 'hub' is known as the piazza and is right on the beach. You can head there to lounge, enjoy the beach, dine or just enjoy the view. The piazza was my favourite location for breakfast on the island. The view is just gorgeous. A few steps away you can find the library and dive centre. The library is one of the oldest buildings on the island and was used to house coconuts when the island was a coconut plantation. Look out for the ancient anchor dating back to the 1800s (you can't miss it!) or post cards from the island's early days. The library is built out of old coral blocks and is a beautiful reminder of the island's past. The island's dive and water sports centre is right next door. Fishing, diving, sunset cruises and a number of water sports can all be arranged here. If I had more time I might have also taken up the PADI advanced diver certification there. The island boutique is also conveniently in the same location offering a variety of island clothing and necessities. If you're interested in some 'me time' walk towards the hill, passing the pool along the way, towards the spa. The holistic spa has a fantastic view and you can enjoy the sea breeze while you get a massage. If you're feeling more energetic you can head next door to the gym for some exercise.
